Chaudhary Raghuvendra Singh is known as the founder of DLF (Delhi Land and Finance), India’s largest and successful real estate developers company. People also know him by the name of Chaudhary Saheb. As a successful and visionary entrepreneur, he is a great example for real estate developers in India.
Early life and career:
Chaudhary Raghvendra Singh was born on September 19, 1910, he received his graduation degree from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi. After this he served as a soldier in the Indian Army and reached the rank of Major and was also given MBE for his service.
He established DLF in independent India in 1946. Building DLF:
Under the leadership of Raghuvendra Singh, DLF played a special role in developing Delhi’s residential colonies, providing homes to millions of temporary families and reshaping the urban landscape.
He developed prestigious colonies like South Extension, Hauz Khas and Greater Kailash which are currently known as prime real estate.Raghuvendra Singh played an important role in planned development, he also worked to develop housing, infrastructure, facilities and community spaces.
However, after the introduction of Delhi Development Act in 1957, this Act limited the number of private developers in Delhi, which also affected DLF and it shifted its focus towards Haryana.
